LED Panel Light Buyer's Guide: How to Choose Panels for Office & Commercial Projects (OEM/ODM)
A buyer's guide for importers, contractors and OEM/ODM brands: how to match LED panel installation types to projects, compare key specifications, verify certifications and quality control, and start an RFQ with Enshine Lighting.
1. Why LED Panel Lights Remain a Core SKU in Commercial Lighting
Walk into any modern office, school, hospital or retail space and look up: the ceiling is very likely a grid of panel lights. For importers, wholesalers and electrical contractors, LED panel lights remain a core SKU in commercial lighting because they combine three things buyers rarely get in one fixture: a clean ceiling appearance, wide and even light distribution, and a product structure that is simple enough to standardize across an entire building.
Standard ceiling modules — especially the 600×600 mm grid used in offices worldwide — make panels easy to specify in volume. One fixture family can cover a whole floor plan, which simplifies tendering, stock planning and installation training. That is why panel lights keep a stable place in commercial project catalogues even as lighting technology evolves.
At Enshine Lighting, panel lights have been part of the product line for many years alongside bulbs, downlights, battens and high bay lights. As a manufacturer founded in 2006 with 300+ employees and 20 years of OEM and ODM experience, we build panel families for both project distribution and private-label brands — which is the perspective this guide takes.
2. Matching the Installation Type to Your Project
The first decision a buyer faces is not wattage — it is how the panel will sit in the ceiling. Enshine covers the three main installation forms, and each one matches a different type of project.
Recessed panels (round and square)
Recessed panels sit flush in suspended ceilings or gypsum board openings, giving the clean, integrated look that offices, malls, hotels and schools expect. The Enshine recessed series (YX-RPA/SPA) is available in circular and square styles from 3W to 24W, with hole sizes from Φ75 mm to Φ280 mm, so one series can serve corridors, meeting rooms and retail areas within the same project.
Surface mount panels
Where the ceiling is solid concrete or the grid cannot be opened, surface-mounted panels avoid costly ceiling modification. The Enshine surface mount series (YX-RPAS/SPAS) is only 28 mm thick, comes in round and square styles from 6W to 24W, and is a practical choice for refurbishment and fit-out projects where an existing ceiling must stay untouched.
Frameless panels
Frameless panels remove the visible trim ring from the front, leaving a smooth luminous surface. This is a design-driven option for contemporary interiors, hotels and premium retail. The Enshine double PC cover frameless series uses a round form in 18W, 24W and 36W with diameters from Ø120 mm to Ø225 mm, and the two-layer PC cover gives a soft, even front appearance.
The 600×600 project panel
For offices and institutional buildings built on the standard grid, the dedicated 600×600 mm panel is the workhorse SKU. The Enshine ultra-slim panel (YX-BPA) is only 9 mm thick and comes in 40W, 48W and 72W — three output levels on the same footprint, so one ceiling cut-out serves rooms of different sizes without changing the fixture family.
3. How to Compare Specifications Like a Project Buyer
Panel light quotations often look similar until you compare the numbers that actually drive project performance. Here are the parameters worth comparing across suppliers — and how the Enshine panel families are specified.
| Parameter | Enshine panel range | Why it matters to buyers |
|---|---|---|
| Luminous efficacy | 90–100 lm/W across panel families | Higher efficacy means lower energy cost per lumen over thousands of operating hours in offices and schools. |
| CRI | Ra > 80 (Ra ≥ 80) | The baseline for comfortable colour appearance in working and retail environments. |
| Color temperature | 2700K–7000K selectable per order | Lets one fixture family serve warm hospitality areas and cooler office/task areas. |
| Power factor | PF > 0.5 (recessed series) | Relevant for large installations where grid-side power quality matters. |
| Rated average life | 25,000 hours | Sets expectations for maintenance cycles in buildings where ceiling access is costly. |
| Input voltage | AC 90–265V | One input range covers most export markets, reducing driver variants to stock. |
| Warranty | 2–3 years by series | Compare warranty scope and claim process, not just the number of years. |
Two comparison habits separate professional buyers from casual ones. First, compare efficacy together with luminous flux at the same footprint: the ultra-slim 600×600 panel, for example, delivers 3600 lm at 40W, 4320 lm at 48W and 6480 lm at 72W, all at 90 lm/W. Second, confirm what sits behind the diffuser — the Enshine recessed and surface mount series use die-cast aluminium bodies for heat dissipation, which is what protects rated life in long-hours operation.
4. Certifications and Quality Control: What to Verify Before Committing
Certification requirements differ by target market, so the practical rule for buyers is simple: verify which certificates apply to the exact series you are ordering, not to the supplier's catalogue in general.
The Enshine recessed panel series (YX-RPA/SPA) is specified with CE, ROHS, ETL and CB certifications. For other series and other destination markets, ask our team to confirm the certification status of the specific model and wattage in your quotation — this is a standard part of our quotation process.
At the factory level, Enshine operates under an ISO 9001-certified quality management system. In-house testing covers the checks that matter most for panel lights: integrating sphere and photometric measurement, high-temperature aging, salt spray corrosion, IP rating water and dust testing, surge and EMI testing, and spectral colorimeter / CRI analysis. Running these tests in-house means specification data can be checked on our own production batches rather than only on laboratory samples.
5. What OEM/ODM Cooperation Looks Like with Enshine
For lighting brands and distributors, panel lights are often a private-label category: the fixture must carry your brand, match your catalogue's specifications and arrive consistently across repeat orders. That is a manufacturing-capability question as much as a product question.
- Manufacturing since 2006: 20 years of OEM and ODM experience serving global lighting brands and distributors.
- Scale: 300+ employees and an in-house factory covering plastic injection, aluminum stamping and die casting, LED driver assembly and complete product assembly.
- Customization: color temperature selection within 2700K–7000K, wattage configuration within the series, and private-label options.
- Engineering support: experienced R&D engineers for series extension and product development.
Specific terms — minimum order quantity, lead time, private-label scope and packaging — are confirmed per order and per market. Send your requirements and we will confirm the exact terms in the quotation rather than quoting generic numbers.
6. The Pre-Quotation Checklist for Panel Light Projects
Buyers who send complete RFQs get accurate quotations faster. Before requesting panel light pricing, prepare these six items:
- Installation type: recessed, surface mount or frameless — and for recessed orders, the ceiling grid type and cut-out size.
- Footprint and wattage: for example, 600×600 mm at 40W/48W/72W, or the round/square size and wattage level from the series table.
- Photometric requirements: target efficacy band (90–100 lm/W), CRI > 80 and color temperature within 2700K–7000K.
- Target market: destination country and required certifications, so the correct series (e.g. CE/ROHS/ETL/CB on the recessed range) is quoted.
- Customization scope: private label, packaging and any configuration needs.
- Quantity structure: approximate volumes per wattage and size, so production planning can be confirmed.
